Moon Song

Music by: Tim Tompkins

Inception:

Frances and I were preparing to play stage music for a local college production of Ted Hughes’s version of Frederico Garcia Lorca’s play Blood Wedding. The producer, Marilyn Abad Cardinalli, asked me, “Can you play flamenco?”  “No,” I replied.  “Can you play something like flamenco?”  “I’ll work on it.”  And I did; day after day I nibbled lunch out behind the old Anafaze (industrial temperature controllers) building in Watsonville while playing the well-worn Yamaha classical guitar that Justin Hayward gave me in 1975, London. The composition took on a life of its own, and to this day it is one my favorite little guitar pieces to play.  [Tim]
